There are infinite benefits that travel can bring to our lives. We all deserve to see the beauty of this world and experience the variety of cultures that comes with the territory of travelling. There is something so wonderful about exploring a place you have never been to before!

A new perspective
When travelling, we inevitably gain a new perspective of the world and our outlook on life. For me, it has been and will always be an eye opening experience to see how other people live and the different landscapes that nature provides in abundance. Travel gives us the opportunity to leave the comforts of home and get out into the big wide world and experience life in a new country.

Time to ourselves
Only when we truly take time to enjoy exploring new countries, it may become apparent that life is what you make of it. Every time I go abroad, I feel excited to indulge in a new environment. Travel will allow you to take life at your own pace and really reflect on your life and what you want out of it.

Education
We are all students of the earth and we don’t know everything; travel really highlights this. I have come to the conclusion that I really don’t know that much at all! Learning about new cultures and their customs and traditions is fascinating and in some cases, it’s life-changing! We can all learn a thing or two from taking the plunge to just travel.

Gratitude
Exploring the world will give you a new found feeling of gratitude for the life you have, especially if we are visiting a third world country. I have always felt truly grateful for my life and the people in it. When our problems seem like the end of the world, travel will shake us by the arms and show us that we have a won the lottery, our lives.

Life choices
People travel for different reasons. Some are looking to find themselves on a long quest of self- discovery, and others just want to visit friends and family. Some of us are travelling for professional reasons, and for some of us, it’s an escape from our current reality. I could go on…but what I am getting at here is travel is a choice that leads us to self –discovery and a new understanding of the world regardless of the reason. And that in of itself is a great reason to travel.

New friends
Inevitably, if you travel alone especially, you will meet people and potentially form new friendships alone the way. I have experienced this and it is truly magical to connect with a new person who has your best interests at heart. I feel this is probably the highlight of travel. A place isn’t a place without the people. When we travel, it is a chance to form a connection with people that could potentially stay in our lives!  These are the friendships that create the spice of life!

Develop skills
Travelling offers a great opportunity to gain new life skills. Becoming adaptable and flexible when travelling is paramount. We are all capable of looking after ourselves at home, but once we travel, this is truly put to the test. Travel almost requires you to be open, resourceful and sociable.

These are a few ways in which travel has benefited me and I wouldn’t have it any other way! I have developed life skills, made many friends around the globe and most of all, travel has given me the gift of precious memories that will forever make me smile inside. I want to encourage you to join me in exploring the world and come back and let me know how it went! If you are apprehensive, I say go for it because tomorrow is never certain and today is all we will ever have!
